What gets lost in translation?
- Tone
- Personality
- Confidence
- Spark
Your brand already has a voice: a tone, a personality people recognize. Then it crosses a border, and somewhere along the way a little of it gets lost.
The words can be correct and the message clear, but the confidence, the spark, the thing that made it sound like you, isn't quite there.
Every project starts with one question: what do these words need to do?

Upsell revenue over six months
An international SaaS company’s Swedish customers rarely moved beyond their first plan. New upgrade messages led with outcomes, not features, and the revenue followed.
The challenge
An international SaaS company had built a solid customer base in Sweden, but its existing customers rarely moved beyond their original subscription plans.
The company was investing in acquiring new customers while its after-sales communication relied on generic upgrade emails translated from English. The messages explained what higher-tier plans included, but gave customers little reason to consider upgrading.
The approach
The opportunity was to make the value of upgrading clearer, without making the communication more aggressive. The Swedish customer journey was reviewed, from onboarding and product updates to upgrade emails and in-app messages.
Three changes shaped the strategy:
- Lead with outcomes, not features. Instead of listing what customers could unlock, the messaging showed how additional functionality could solve problems they were already experiencing.
- Make the timing relevant. Upgrade messages were aligned with meaningful moments in the customer journey, rather than sent as generic promotional reminders.
- Adapt the tone for Sweden. Direct translations were replaced with clearer, more natural Swedish copy that made the offer feel useful rather than pushy.
The impact
Over six months, upsell revenue from existing Swedish customers grew by 36%, compared with the previous six-month period.
The revised communication strategy contributed to the result, which the company achieved without increasing its customer acquisition budget.
The takeaway
The opportunity wasn’t to sell harder. It was to communicate value better.
Sometimes the most valuable audience is the one you’ve already reached.
